When new environmental health regulations were instituted by British Columbia, the province’s Village of Clinton needed to upgrade its surface water treatment plant. In partnership with TRUE Consulting Ltd., the Village of Clinton began evaluating a variety of technologies and filtration systems capable of treating pathogens such as cryptosporidium and giardia. By selecting the quick-to-install Aria FIT packaged water treatment system, the Village of Clinton was able to meet updated regulations and successfully remove solids and bacteria before the upcoming spring freshette.

  • The Challenge

    Given new Interior Health Authority regulations, surface water plants experiencing turbidity events above 1 NTU, were required to implement a more robust filtration treatment process to remain compliant. The Pall Water system enabled Clinton to utilize a Direct Feed Coagulation process to remove the contaminants from the source water, along with providing a physical barrier for pathogen reduction.

  • The Solution

    While searching for a solution, the Village of Clinton considered both conventional treatment and membrane treatment methods. Pall Water’s Aria FIT membrane system was selected because it enabled the plant to meet the Interior Health Authority’s “4-3-2-1-0” Guideline for drinking water treatment and the consistency of treatment.

  • The Results

    Within five months, Pall Water deployed the Aria FIT ahead of the upcoming spring freshette, enabling the plant to treat the year’s harshest water quality caused by melting snow and thawing forest matter that enters the village feedwater from a local creek. In previous years the Village of Clinton was required to issue boil water alerts and advisories during this time.
