Case Study: New Jersey American Water
Municipal Water Treatment – Drinking Water | North America: Monmouth County, New Jersey, USA
In 2014, officials in Monmouth County, New Jersey were interested in implementing a water filtration system to provide additional water production capacity. This system would enable the officials to take clarifiers off-line for preventative maintenance, while also supplementing the county’s water supply in summer months to meet peak demand.
New Jersey American Water (NJAW) selected Pall Water’s high-quality Aria FAST mobile water treatment systems in part because the units were user-friendly and streamlined.

The Challenge
Officials sought a water treatment system that would add capacity for increased water demand in summer months, and allow for clarifiers to be taken off-line for preventative maintenance. In order to solve these challenges, New Jersey American Water began qualifying various mobile membrane units.
-
The Solution
NJAW initially rented four Aria FAST units and within three weeks of arrival, the units were producing high quality water. Following this success, NJAW decided to invest the Aria FAST units, purchasing them to support additional water production needs.
-
The Results
The mobile membrane provided additional capacity, allowing for preventative maintenance. The units also met water capacity needs during the 2015 peak summer months. Adding the Aria FAST units was critical and removed the need to place mandatory or voluntary water restrictions during summer months.
